    The FECC suggestion/complaint box

EO is read by many people who never post. There are a lot of good ideas posted on EO and a lot of thought provoking ideas posted that are discussed behind the scenes. Some posts can cause changes to be made within the system, some posts show that clarification needs to be made to the fleet...

    EOBR - Calendar

I am doing this so I know how many days we spend on the road this year. When we leave the house and when we get back home.

    EOBR - Calendar

I have started using Windows Calender to keep track of our home time. I am having a heck of a time remembering to do this as we have taken the log sheets for granted for many years. At the end of the year I will print out the months and file that away with my taxes.

Eobr - "off duty/driving" fmsca feedback

Jason talked about 45 minutes personal time for each driver if you are not under a load at the breakfast at MATS. The details are still being worked out on how to go about implementation.

Why didn't I get that load?

It would be interesting to know where the truck was sitting that received the load. Were you still checked into the Salt Lake City express center? You were still over 50 miles away from that Express Center so you had negative points against your truck. The DVA is constantly being tweaked and...

what to expect / looking for company

We have friends that run for Forward Air who have also considering leaving the company. They have talked to us in the past many times about going into expedite and they decided it was not for them. They are used to running twice if not three times the miles we do each week and like Greg said...

Why didn't I get that load?

Sometime the shipping clerk does not have all the reasons why a load cancels and sometimes we do not always know how an order has changed even after the truck gets to the consignee. We were at a shipper and getting ready to follow directions into a dock and received the dreaded message load...

    #2 Hazmat Packet?

I would suggest a call into safety to find out if you are unsure.

Husband and Wife teams, how do you do it?

FREIGHTDAWG you are going about getting in this business the best way possible. The more you read, post questions and get to know this business the better you will do. There will still be surprises but they will just be small speed bumps in the road ahead. Good Luck

Husband and Wife teams, how do you do it?

You are right there Leo! Molly expects us to behave as well as she does... She is a hard act to follow and she does not appreciate her beauty sleep being disturbed!

    Are you being followed?

You are right Moose. When we drive slow, use our turn signals, and pay attention to our surroundings the stress is gone of worrying about being observed or getting a ticket.

    Are you being followed?

We were followed several years ago while in Ohio and then received a report in the mail on what they had observed. The report went well. They even listed how many seconds they observed us. I also think this is a or was a common practice.

Husband and Wife teams, how do you do it?

I also had this exact concern after being married 20 years with separate jobs. I knew we always got along very well and that we enjoyed each others company and hanging out together. The 24/7 being together leaves no room for any secrets what happens happens. You learn you have to argue...

Why didn't I get that load?

Here are some of the reasons gathered over time that a few of us have worked on when for when this question is asked: Load requires special training/qualifications such as A&E, Nuclear, T-Val, IAC or SEC. Load is HAZMAT category that is not allowed on a cargo van. Load requires a...

    What would you do??

I must give off one heck of a do not mess with me attitude as I have never had a guy ask me such a goofy question in the over ten years I have been out here. When I go in for my shower I am either dressed in my slacks with a button down shirt or I am in my workout clothes which consists of a...

    Exhibiting at the Wilmington Expo

This is a great post and I started thinking after reading a few more responses. When you are looking at a new company or you are just starting to look, act and look like a professional. The Billy Big Rigger look does not gain you respect from any company. Dress appropriately as a business...

    New express centers

We do better in Portland than we do in Seattle. Salt Lake City is great for Military freight. We have had hit and miss luck in Las Vegas but part of that was due to being checked into Ontario and taking the hit on to far out to be picked for a load. We have delivered in Albuquerque and dead...
