A New Jersey woman was killed after she fell out of the cab of her husband’s semi early Wednesday morning and was struck by two commercial trucks, according to New Jersey State Police.

Juana Alvarado, 46, of the Bronx, N.Y., was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:05 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 78 near Readington Township.

Alvarado was a passenger in a tractor-trailer driven by her husband, Luis, when she fell from the rig about 1:25 a.m. in the center lane of I-78 East, according to Trooper Jeffrey Flynn.

“She fell from the vehicle and was struck by a 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was traveling in the eastbound lane, then she was struck a second time by a 2010 International box truck that was in the right lane behind the Freightliner,” Flynn said in a phone interview with “ Land Line Now.”

He declined to release additional details, saying the incident remains under investigation.

It was not immediately clear how Alvarado fell from the moving tractor-trailer; police said that is part of the ongoing investigation.

“When there is a fatality, (investigations) don’t wrap up in a couple of days,” Flynn said.
