Women In Trucking Founder and CEO Ellen Voie received the Frank W. Babbitt Award at the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association’s annual convention last week for her “outstanding service to the association, the trucking industry and the community as a whole.”

Voie, who lives in Waupaca, Wisconsin, founded WIT in 2007.

Wisconsin Association President Neal Kedzie commended Voie for her work not only in WIT and the trucking industry as a whole, but for her contributions to the community at large.

She helped found and organize Trucker’s Pride Day to promote the trucking industry to the public and saw the event grow to include thousands of visitors at the town’s annual truck show.

Voie has served as executive director for Trucker Buddy International and as chairman of the American Trucking Associations’ Safety and Loss Prevention Council’s recruiting and retention committee and on ATA’s image and communications committee.

Voie was honored in July 2012 by the White House as a Transportation Innovators Champion of Change and she’s also a recipient of the Skinner Humanitarian Award.
