TruckPro Seminar Series is new addition at Expo

The Expedite Expo promises to be bigger and better than ever this year, in part because of a new addition that will help owner-operators save money and stay safe on the road.

The TruckPro Seminar Series will feature hands-on presentations with a straight truck and a cargo van — live on the Expo floor.

The series will kick off at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 22, with a presentation by Shell Rotella titled: “The Life of Your Engine: Engine Coolants.”

That will be followed at 10 a.m. by another Shell Rotella presentation, “The Life of Your Engine: Synthetic Oil.”

At 11 a.m., representatives from Speedco will present the third seminar in the series: “Interpreting What Your Oil Is Telling You — Oil Analysis.”

Keeping your truck or van running as efficiently as possible for as long as possible is crucial to success in the expediting industry, and the next seminar in the series focuses on that topic.

At 1 p.m. on Friday, July 22, Heath Wood will present “Extending the Life of Your Truck — A Look at Maintenance.” Wood is the sales and finance manager for Middle Georgia Freightliner-Isuzu in Macon, Ga.

That seminar will be followed at 2 p.m. by Ray Lawrence, president of Espar of Michigan. Lawrence will discuss “Smart Economics: Idle Reduction Tips, Tools and Facts.”

The series will continue on Saturday, July 23, with “The Life of Your Engine: Engine Coolants,” presented at 9 a.m., followed by “The Life of Your  Engine: Synthetic Oil” at 9:30 a.m. Both of those seminars will be presented by Shell Rotella.

Every driver dreads roadside breakdowns, but being prepared and equipped to deal with those situations can minimize the headaches.

That is the topic of the next seminar, at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23. Presented by Karen Piccolomini, manager of truck service strategic programs for TravelCenters of America,  truck service technical trainer for TravelCenters of America, the seminar is titled “Roadside breakdowns are a fact of life.”

At 2 p.m., owner-operator Nick Marcu of Load One will present “Protect Yourself and Your Freight! Freight Securement.”

The seminar series will wrap up at 3 p.m. Saturday with “Interpreting What Your Oil Is Telling You — Oil Analysis,” presented by Speedco.

The 2011 Expedite Expo will be held July 22 and 23 at the Roberts Convention Centre in Wilmington, Ohio.

Registration, admission and parking are all free at the Expo.
