Anyone who has been to the Truckers Against Trafficking Facebook site lately may wonder at some of the unrelated items (such as a tattoo slideshow) that are showing up. TAT reported in an e-mail dated March1 that “TAT Facebook account has unfortunately been hacked. We understand that inappropriate content is currently being posted by the hackers.

“We do not have control of the page but are working to resolve the issue,” the alert continued. “Please trust that we will delete the inappropriate content as soon as we have regained control of the page.  We hope to have this issue resolved as soon as possible. Thank you for your support of our work.”

When asked if it was known whether the hackers were youngsters flexing their technical muscle or someone more sinister, TAT Executive Director Kendis Paris said: “We have no idea. What we're most concerned about is that FB offers zero customer support. We're waiting the full 24 hours to see if we can even get our page back. It is very distressing.”

The Trucker will keep readers up-to-date as more information becomes known.
