Transportation unchanged in Canadian federal shuffle
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper shuffled the duties of several Cabinet members on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
The shuffle did not affect the federal transportation department known as Transport Canada, which is led by Member of Parliament John Baird.
Baird was first appointed to lead Transport Canada in 2007 during a previous job shakeup by the prime minister. Harper has called on Baird to serve on federal economic advisory committees in the newest version of the Cabinet.
The new year has brought changes at the provincial level as well.
On Monday, Jan. 18, Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty shuffled his Cabinet, sending former Transportation Minister James Bradley to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. McGuinty appointed former Education Minister Kathleen Wynne to lead the provincial Ministry of Transportation.
