The Trucking Solutions Group Sponsors Blood Drive at MATS

“Give So That Others May Live”

The Trucking Solutions Group and the American Red Cross Sponsor
the First Blood Drive at the Mid America Trucking Show

LOUISVILLE, KY –The Trucking Solutions Group is partnering with the American Red Cross to sponsor the first blood drive at a major trucking show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2011 during the Mid America Trucking Show.

Those attending the show at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Ky. are invited to stop in Booth #91470 and donate with no appointment needed.

“Whenever there is a crisis or a need within a community, truck drivers and others within the trucking industry are some of the first to step up and respond,” says Linda Caffee, professional driver and chairman of the Trucking Solutions Group Driver Health Council. “We’re all in this together! This blood drive provides the needed supplies to insure that the American Red Cross can respond when they are needed.”

Last year at the Mid America Trucking Show, the Trucking Solutions Group founded the first of it’s kind fitness event in the trucking industry by creating the 61+ Health Awareness Walk, a 1.5 mile non-competitive fun walk to raise the awareness of truckers’ needs to live a healthier lifestyle. Along with conducting the 61+ Health Awareness Walks at trucking show events, this year the group is embarking on a quest to further assist the trucking industry and the general public by conducting blood drives at various trucking show events that will be held throughout the year.

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, which creates the need for 38,000 blood donations every day. Less than 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood making the goal of 38,000 donations per day a daunting challenge. Because blood cannot be manufactured, the American Red Cross depends on the generosity of its donors to maintain their supply.
