ACT Research has raised its forecast for Class 8 truck production this year by 6,000 units. The researchers look for an overall increase in production of 19 percent compared with 2009.
Navistar announced Tuesday, May 11, that it has received an order from JB Hunt for more than 5,000 new International trucks over the next four years. The trucks feature a 13-liter engine and a system in which pollutants are burned up in the engine instead of being treated downstream in the exhaust system.
And Cummins reports that engine sales are looking up. The company says it expects $12 billion worth of sales this year, up 11 percent from last year.
