Ram Confirms New Small Van

The Ram Truck commercial vehicle division confirmed that it will launch a second Fiat-based van in North America.

The truck division of Chrysler Group said that the small van, based on the Fiat Doblo, will debut in the 2015 model year. The Ram ProMaster City will join the larger Ram ProMaster in the manufacturer’s lineup. The ProMaster is based on the Fiat Ducato. Fiat, based in Italy, is the parent company of Chrysler.

The Doblo has sold more than 1.3 million units worldwide, Chrysler said in a statement. The ProMaster City will add Ram styling cues and come equipped with features and powertrains tailored to North American commercial customers, the company said.

“Our successful relationship with Fiat Professional . . . gives Ram a competitive advantage with access to proven products and technology that will resonate with our U.S. and Canadian customers,” Ram Truck CEO Reid Bigland said.
