Price of gallon of diesel down another 4.1 cents
WASHINGTON — The average on-highway price of a gallon of diesel fuel dropped another 4.1 cents to $2.338 for the week ending December 14, according to the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy.
It's the lowest price since the week ending June 27, 2005, when the average price was $2.336.
The average price has fallen 87.5 cents in 2015, according to EIA data.
The price is $1.081 lower than at the same time in 2014.
All regions of the country showed a decline for the week ending December 14 with the largest being a 6.1-cent drop in the New England states and 5.4-cent drops in the Midwest and the State of California.
Diesel prices continue to be influenced by lower oil prices, which rose Monday for the first time after six straight losses.
Early in the day U.S. crude fell below $35 a barrel for the first time since Feb. 18, 2009. But it recovered and closed up 69 cents, or 1.9 percent, at $36.31 a barrel in New York.
