Omnitracs purchased by Solera Services ... how does this affect Sylectus users?

Solera has purchased Omnitracs. You can read the announcement here.

What does this mean about the future of Sylectus?

Please ask Sylectus. Most announcements like this include official statements from the buyer and seller to their key customer accounts that clearly explain the intent of the purchase. So if you are a key Omnitracs (Sylectus) customer, you should have received an email or phone call from them explaining how this acquisition of Omnitracs by Solera will affect your use of Sylectus. My guess … they will tell you it is “business as usual”. They will certainly want to make you comfortable that this purchase will not impact your investment in Sylectus and Omnitracs.

Having said that… a TMS (or load board) is certainly not part of the Solera focus (if you read the Solera website). Solera is into risk management for the automotive and insurance ecosystem. If it is not part of their core business model then one could surmise that a TMS (or load board) product might be jettisoned as either a sale or business closure. In my personal experience in these kinds of business acquisitions, the buyer usually takes months to fully understand what they bought before adjusting their portfolio of business units. At that point, you might get some notification of what they intend to do with Sylectus. During this “discovery” phase, there is usually very little done to support or enhance a product they might consider expendable. So you should watch to see if they continue to enhance the Sylectus offering over the next several months or whether changes and improvements to the software goes dormant.

Wise business leaders will reach out to Sylectus to get their official stance on the sale and how it will affect their investment in the Sylectus product set.

For those of you who have already moved your TMS from Sylectus to Full Circle, rest assured that we continue to invest and support our products and services.

All the best, my friends.
