Networking is Knowledge, and Knowledge is Power
The 2022 Expedite Expo, being held in Fort Wayne, Indiana on July 15th & 16th, is a great place to start for anyone who is looking for answers or searching for ways to increase their knowledge and productivity within the expedite industry. Whether you’re a truck driver, with twenty-plus years of over-the-road experience, and you’re just now setting foot into the expedite realm, or you’re new to commercial driving altogether, you may want to consider finding your way to the networking roundtables at the Expedite Expo.
Networking Roundtables
These roundtables will be one-hour long sessions, from 2 to 3pm on Friday and Saturday in the curtained area of the Expo Hall. Folks are encouraged to find a table to sit in on and contribute to a discussion. It’s an opportunity to commiserate with your peers and chat about topics that can help you become more successful in the industry.
Simply show up to attend one of the seven tables (the details are listed below), first come, first served. If your first choice of table is full, just pick a different one! You’re sure to find someone who has an abundance of knowledge to share on myriad topics.
Straight Truck Drivers
Join Stephen Halsted at the table reserved for Straight Truck drivers. Stephen is one who came from a background that had nothing to do with trucking or expedite but has figured out the industry along the way. It’s a chance for a group of people to discuss what it’s like stepping into the world of straight truck driving.
Van Drivers
Breon Thomas is extending an invite to those who have specific interest in driving cargo vans. A different beast than the straight truck aspect of expedite, cargo van driving offers many benefits and there are bound to be lots of tips, tricks, and thoughts worth discussing at this roundtable.
How to Work with Fleet Owners
Saddle up at the table of Matt Kowalczyk from Load One. Learn what it’s like to break into the expedite industry as an independent contractor driving for a fleet owner. Share your ideas, thoughts and experiences with a group who’s dedicated to educating those who aren’t in the space of becoming an owner operator but rather making a living under the wing of driving for someone else.
Vehicle Maintenance
Sit in on the roundtable discussion led by Jimmy MacDonald, the Equipment Maintenance Manager of Hyfield Trucking. Jimmy will open the floor to discussions centered around maintaining proper care for your vehicle be it a cargo van, Sprinter, straight truck, or tractor. Share thoughts and ideas with a group dedicated to better vehicle upkeep.
Women in Trucking
Join Ellen Voie from Women in Trucking. Learn about and discuss what it takes for a woman to succeed in today’s expedite world. Lots of ideas and thoughts, tips, and takeaways will be garnered from a discussion centered around women entering and thriving in the greater scheme of transportation. This is a table sure to get the brain juices flowing!
Positioning Yourself for Freight
David Withers of Expediter Services wants to help all-comers learn how to stay properly prepared when waiting on their next load. Sometimes it’s a matter of luck-of-the-draw, others it depends on where a driver can anticipate their next load materializing. David will discuss tips and suggestions that can help maximize your abilities and earning potential when you’re out on the road.
 Let’s Talk Tires
Kyle Martin of McMahon Tires will be hosting a roundtable discussion on the importance of maintaining proper tire care. One way to sabotage your productivity on the road is to shun any good habits when it comes to daily tire maintenance. Learn about ways to maximize the life of your tires, and how to anticipate that inevitable flat. Preparation is key!
If knowledge is what you seek, and it most definitely should be, then carving out an hour’s time at the Expo for the Networking Roundtable sessions might just be the best thing you can do for your expedite career.
