Medium Truck Sales Rose 24% in May
U.S. retail sales of Classes 3 – 7 medium-duty trucks increased 24% in May, with all but Class 6 posting gains for the month, WardsAuto.com reported.
Truck buyers purchased 33,827 new medium-duty units in May, the latest data available, up from 27,280 during May 2011. Total volume for the first five months of the year reached 148,436, a 19% increase over the same period last year.
The month’s biggest gains came in the lighter-duty classes, with Class 4 sales recording the largest%age gain, increasing 56.4% to 1,392 trucks sold, and Class 3 posting the best results in terms volume, increasing 30% to 20,064 trucks sold.
