Kentucky fires highway safety officials after time sheet scandal

Kentucky has fired two state highway safety supervisors for falsifying time logs and other misconduct. The firings came just weeks after the state let a political appointee go.

The workers allegedly falsified their time sheets routinely and allowed other employees to do the same.

In late July, Kentucky Office of Highway Safety Director Boyd Sigler was fired, though Sigler was reportedly not given a reason for the firing, according to the Courier-Journal newspaper. A state investigative report obtained by the newspaper showed that Sigler accepted racing passes from the Kentucky Motor Speedway, which is overseen by the state Office of Highway Safety.

The report also found widespread time and attendance policy violations and racial harassment.
