Introducing Sandy Long

securedownload_1.jpgWe are pleased to announce the addition of Sandy Long to our writing staff.  Sandy is a long time driver who became an online presence in 2005 when she began writing for Layover.com.  Since then, she has written for various websites and online publications, the Canadian Trucking Magazine and Landline Magazine where her article ‘Pathbreakers’ was submitted with another article as examples of Landline’s Journeys column in the Truck Writers of North American judging at MATS in 2011; the column won a gold award.  Sandy is a published poet and an author of two books; Street Smarts: A Guide for a Truck Driver’s Personal Safety and Arriving Alive, personal safety tips, sharing the road with semis and driving tips for the motoring public.

When Sandy is not driving or writing she is busy mentoring new and prospective drivers through referral and her yahoo group Trailer Truckin’ Tech and working on educating drivers on trucking issues.  She is a life member of OOIDA, a charter member of the Women In Trucking Association and member of the Truck Writers of North America.  This year, Sandy was nominated for the Hope Rivenburg Making a Difference Award.  Sandy currently drives for a small trucking company out of Kansas City, runs regional hauling just in time auto parts and travels with her poodle/Jack Russell dog Lillian Russell.
