Land Line Magazine has confirmed that FMCSA Administrator Anne Ferro will be in attendance at the agency’s hours-of-service listening session scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 28, in Davenport, IA.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration scheduled a total of four listening sessions to hear from the public about hours of service for commercial drivers. The intent is to gather information to be considered in possible changes to the existing regulation.

President Obama nominated Ferro in 2009, and the Senate confirmed her as administrator of the agency in charge of making trucks and carriers safer. Hours of service is a frequent topic whenever trucking and safety are mentioned.

OOIDA has had a strong presence at all three recent listening sessions held in DC, Dallas and Los Angeles. Thursday’s session in Davenport is being touted as the “trucker friendly location” according to the FMCSA.

The session is being held from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday at the Comfort Inn Hotel and Suites, 8300 Northwest Blvd., Davenport, IA, just off Interstate 80. The hotel is within walking distance of a Flying J that has ample truck parking.

The public can comment on the issue of hours of service by phone, in writing, online or by fax. Click on Land Line Magazine’s handy guide to commenting on hours of service.
