Diesel prices rise slightly, average $3.078

After several weeks of spiking fuel prices, the U.S. Energy Information Administration is reporting that diesel fuel prices rose four-tenths of a cent to average $3.078 per gallon on Monday, April 26.

According to the EIA report, the national average price for diesel is up 87.7 cents per gallon from this same week a year ago when fuel was averaging $2.201 per gallon.

All nine regions in the country are again reporting fuel prices above the $3 mark. However, four regions are reporting slight decreases at the pump from a week ago.

For the third straight week, the California region is again reporting the highest diesel prices in the country, averaging $3.227 per gallon, a one-tenth of a cent drop from the previous week.

The Lower Atlantic region is reporting the lowest fuel prices of all the regions at $3.030 per gallon, a drop of seven-tenths of a cent from a week ago.
