Diesel price up for 11th week

For the 11th consecutive week, the national average retail price of diesel increased, gaining 2.1 cents to $3.534 during the week ended Feb. 14, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. The price is the highest since Oct. 13, 2008, when it was $3.659.

Prices rose in all regions, led by the Rocky Mountain region where the price climbed 5.2 cents to $3.511. The West Coast price advanced 4.1 cents to $3.671, and California’s price rose 4 cents to $3.747, 84.5 cents higher than a year ago. The Gulf Coast price increased 3.4 cents to $3.489. New England held on to its dubious claim as most expensive region at $3.749 a gallon.

The national average price is 77.8 cents higher than the same week last year.
