Diesel price rises again
The national average retail price of diesel increased for an eighth straight week, rising 2.3 cents to $3.407 during the week ended Jan. 24, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration.
Prices increased in all regions, led by an 4.9-cent increase in the New England area of the East Coast, where prices gained 3.2 cents overall. New England is now the most expensive region tracked by the agency at $3.609 a gallon. California gained 4 cents to $3.602 a gallon. The Gulf Coast increased 2.2 cents to $3.531.
The national average price is 59.7 cents higher than the same week last year and is at the highest level since late October 2008, when the price was $3.488.
