Diesel drops another 6.2 cents to $3.835

The U.S. Energy Information Administration is reporting that diesel prices have dipped another 6.2 cents from a week ago to average $3.835 per gallon on Monday, Aug. 15. This is the third straight week that the national average price for diesel has dropped.

Diesel prices are still averaging 85.6 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, when it was selling for around $2.979 per gallon, according to the EIA.

This past week, diesel prices have dropped again in all nine regions of the country. The EIA is reporting that prices are the lowest in the Gulf Coast region at $3.806 per gallon, down 6.2 cents per gallon from the previous week.

The New England region is reporting the highest fuel prices in the country this past week at $4.001, which is the only region to report prices above the $4 mark.

New England – $4.001, down 3 cents
Central Atlantic – $3.983, down 7 cents
Lower Atlantic – $3.811, down 6.6 cents
Midwest – $3.815, down 6 cents
Gulf Coast – $3.806, down 6.2 cents
Rocky Mountain – $3.826, down 2.5 cents
West Coast – $3.863, down 8.6 cents
California – $3.957, down 11 cents

In oil news, crude was trading at just over $86.94 per barrel at midday Monday on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
