Diesel Begins the Year on an Upswing
The national average price of a gallon of diesel was up again this week, rising 3.7 cents from last week. Diesel is 53.4 cents higher today that it was a year ago, according to the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy. The previous high was on Oct. 20, 2008, when diesel hit $3.482.
Oil has been hovering just above the $90-mark for much of the past week, leading analysts to suggest $100-per-barrel isn't far off.
