CVSA: ‘We’re going to Disneyland’
Before Capt. Steve Dowling of the California Highway Patrol was elected to the executive board of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance two years ago, he donned a Mickey Mouse hat and made a promise. If elected, CVSA would host the annual conference at Disneyland.
Dowling is making good on his promise. The 2010 Annual Conference of the CVSA will be held Sept. 20-23 at the Anaheim Marriott in Anaheim, CA.
While participation in the CVSA conference is limited to members of the alliance, that’s not the case at all with the California Highway Patrol’s 2010 Commercial Vehicle Safety Summit. That event will even be held the day before the CVSA meeting on Sunday, Sept. 19, and at the same location.
“Our OOIDA members ask us frequently when CVSA is going to have a conference that truckers can participate in,†said OOIDA’s Director of Regulatory Affairs Joe Rajkovacz. “Well – the Commercial Vehicle Safety Summit is their big chance.â€
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Summit is styled after CVSA conferences, and the target audiences are people from the trucking industry – truckers included.
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Summit will feature break-out sessions on the following topics:
California Air Resources Board regulations;
Hours-of-service regulations;
California Biennial Inspection of Terminal (BIT) program;
Hazardous material;
Oversize/permit loads;
Operating authority;
Training safe drivers; and
CSA 2010.
The California Highway Patrol will also recognize the winners of their new Safe Transportation Achievement Recognition (STAR) Awards program at the Summit.
There is no charge to attend the Commercial Vehicle Safety Summit conference, but preregistration is required. To preregister, click
