Several Convoy for a Cure events are set to roll in Canada and the United States in October. Their goal is to drive out breast cancer one truck at a time by organizing convoys to raise money for breast cancer research.

OOIDA Life Member Cindy Stowe admits that becoming the organizer of the U.S. Convoy for a Cure has been a life-changing experience for her. She told Land Line

She said her goal in 2010 is to double the number of trucks and participants from 2009. This year’s U.S. Cure convoy will be on Saturday, Oct. 16, at the TravelCenters of America, exit 503, in Terrell, TX.

“We have a lot of amazing people who are involved in this and plan to show their support at this year’s convoy,” Stowe said.

In addition to the all-female convoy, followed by the male support convoy, Stowe said a motorcycle convoy has been added to this year’s lineup.

“Many truckers are also bikers so we thought this was a good way to include everyone,” she said.

Trucker Rachèle Champagne is the founder of the Cure convoys. She got the idea to organize her first convoy approximately three years ago. For information on convoys scheduled in Canada, you can e-mail [email protected] .
