PLOVER, Wis. — Imagine being on the pitcher’s mound at Progressive Field on Saturday, September 27th, Cleveland Indians fans cheering you on! That dream will become a reality thanks to Women In Trucking (WIT) as they host an auction for the Women In Trucking Foundation to fund scholarships for women entering the transportation industry.

The highest bidder in the auction will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the September 27 game against the Tampa Bay Rays and also receive four game day tickets. The 6:05pm game is a popular dollar hotdog night plus fan appreciation night with fireworks.

Auction bids can be entered online at http://www.32auctions.com/firstpitch. The auction will end on Friday, September 5 at 8 p.m. Central.

The ceremonial first pitch auction is in conjunction with the second annual Women In Transportation event. This event is an opportunity for the Cleveland Indians to recognize women in the transportation industry and acknowledge their hard work and dedication.

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, one of Northeast Ohio-based icons in the transportation industry, is lending their support for women in transportation with major contributions to the event. A Bendix tractor trailer equipped with leading edge safety technologies that help improve vehicle stability will be parked on the Gateway Plaza on game day. Bendix representatives will be on hand to answer questions about today’s sophisticated trucking technologies and the trucking industry in general.

Additional sponsors of the event to honor all women in transportation careers include TMW Systems, TravelCenters of America LLC and T & K Logistics.

Women In Trucking was established to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments and minimize obstacles faced by women working in the trucking industry. Membership is not limited to women, as sixteen percent of its members are men who support the mission. Women In Trucking is supported by its members and the generous support of Gold Level Partners: Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC, Daimler Trucks NA, Great Dane Trailers, and Walmart.
