Bradley out; Ontario gets new transportation minister
James Bradley is no longer the transportation minister in the province of Ontario thanks to a shakeup by government leaders.
Truckers know Bradley and the Ontario Liberal Party government for fast-tracking the infamous speed-limiter law in 2008 without regard for highway speed differentials and other concerns raised by owner-operator groups OOIDA and OBAC.
On Monday, Jan. 18, Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty announced he was conducting a “cabinet shuffle†to shift his inner circle into new roles. The move is being viewed as a routine shakeup as McGuinty ups his focus on the economy, education and green jobs.
McGuinty moved Bradley to lead the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and appointed former Education Minister Kathleen Wynne to lead the Ministry of Transportation.
Wynne is a member of provincial parliament from a Toronto district known as Don Valley West. She was elected in 2007.
The Ontario Liberal Party won a majority government in 2007 and continues to set policy. The next provincial election occurs in October 2011.
