Alert: Expediters Getting Scammed--Don't Let This Happen To You

An organization stating that they're located in Chicago is using a number of different names, false addresses, and stolen credit cards in order to receive shipments of construction materials.  Specifically, individuals using the names Mark, Larry, or Tim Rosenberg, Mario Chase, Danny Collins and company names of P&T Construction and Chase Construction should garner extra caution.

From what we can tell, this is what seems to be happening: the scammer calls a carrier to move freight, usually several times over a two-to-three week period.  The freight gets there, and the carrier invoices the company.  After a couple weeks, the invoices come back undeliverable--because the address isn't real.

If you should receive a phone call from anyone using the above names, you should report them to Richard Pillsbury at the Chicago office of the US Secret Service.  In addition to this, when you get a call that you might not feel totally comfortable with, or one where you've never heard of the company, it might be a good idea to check them out with their local BBB and to call the company back at their corporate phone numbers where possible in order to ensure that the company is legitimate and that the individual who called actually works there.
