Leading Fleet DeMaris Transportation Leverages Sylectus’ Android™ Application to Improve Productivity and Overall Operational Efficiency

SAN DIEGO, Calif.—Dec. 13, 2013—Sylectus, a business unit of Omnitracs Canada, Inc., and industry leader in web-based, transportation management software (TMS) for progressive fleets, today announced that 30 percent of its customer base has adopted or are testing its Android-based Sylectus Mobile application within the first five months of the application’s availability. The mobile application enables drivers to view and update trip information and dispatch personnel to track driver and load status in real-time. It is the first-of-its-kind application to integrate Omntiracs’ Driver Workflow, which enables carriers to automate workflow for a more fluid, intuitive driver experience.

As the rapid proliferation of mobile devices continues to drive technology innovation in the transportation industry, more and more carriers are looking for ways to integrate mobile technology into their fleet operations.  The Sylectus Mobile application for Android delivers significant productivity gains to both drivers and carriers—automating driver-dispatcher communications via integration with Omnitracs’ Driver Workflow application that delivers intelligent information, prompts and exception notifications, and reduces cost of ownership by eliminating proprietary hardware costs.

“The rapid growth in mobile technology in the trucking industry is clear—most drivers already own personal mobile devices, with many using Android-powered mobile phones and tablets, so creating an application that can reside on these devices to make their jobs easier makes perfect sense,” said Stuart Sutton, president and CEO of Sylectus. Sutton added, “Sylectus’ SaaS, web-based TMS is uniquely positioned to take advantage of the employee-owned device phenomenon, and we look forward to continuing to develop mobile applications to help our customers increase productivity and grow their businesses.”

DeMaris Transportation, a long time Sylectus customer, and family-owned expedited freight shipping and trucking company, is one customer currently benefiting from the Sylectus Mobile application for Android. Focused on delivering excellent customer service, DeMaris Transportation adopted the application to ensure anytime, anywhere operations with zero downtime.

“We began using the Sylectus Mobile application to better meet our customers’ needs,” said Charles DeMaris, president of DeMaris Transportation. “Since we began using the app, we have significantly improved our business operations—I can run every aspect of the business, from load status tracking in real-time to document scanning, from my mobile device—which helps improve both operational efficiency and our drivers’ experience. Sylectus’ TMS, combined with the Android app, have become critical to our operations and to the continued growth of the company,” he said.

Given the significant impact of mobile devices on the transportation industry and the shift to bring your own device (BYOD) operations across a large number of carriers, Sylectus will continue to fulfill the needs of its customers by delivering powerful, productivity-enhancing applications and solutions to improve driver satisfaction and business efficiency.
