It's a Team's Life
You know it is going to be a bad day when…
I finally came to the realization that I was not going to
find the license and I needed to come up with an alternate plan.
First I talked to safety to have us pulled
off of team status and see if they had any ideas of what I could do.
Tim suggested I call the local DMV in Texas
to ask questions of them.
Luckily I got
a lady who was the first of many helpful people.
She could not help but she knew the number I
needed to call in Missouri to find out the next step.
I called the state and talked with Eva who
was even more helpful.
She asked me if I
had internet and then walked me through downloading the correct form, giving me
the fax number and telling me if I would call as soon as I faxed it she would
get it back to me within a half hour.
I
needed to get the paper notarized and I had no clue where to find a local
notary so I called the Pilot in Fort Worth, TX.
The manager, Ken Bible, gave me directions to his local bank and also
gave suggestions on where to park the truck.
I was thrilled with his help as most people do not understand the
problems we run into with many people not wanting a truck on their
property.
The next problem was to get
something notarized without a driver’s license!
I carry a copy of our driver’s licenses and I was able to take that into
the bank, a copy of my TWIC card with picture, and a copy of my FedEx Custom
Critical Contractor badge with photo.
The girl at the bank was not sure what to do so she called in the
manager.
He looked at all my ID’s and
also who I was sending the notarized form to and agreed I had enough ID.
I went back to the truck stop and faxed in my
form and also called the MO DVM and let them know.
Here comes the great part!
Eva, from the DMV called me back to tell me
she had sent my fax to the truck stop so I could go in and pick it up.
I now have a temporary 15 day license to run
on.
I was pretty stressed and I felt
very lucky from my first call all the way till I received my permit on how many
people were so helpful in this crisis.
I
believe that having a copy of my driver’s license was the biggest help as I
knew my driver’s license number and I could show the copy to the bank to get my
paper notarized.
I hope this never happens to you but if it does I hope you have as good as luck as I did talking to people.
