What does home time mean?

Home time is hectic for the first few days when we arrive and the last couple of days before we leave.   When we pull in the driveway we cart in most of our clothes as well as our bedding.   The refrigerator is cleaned out as well as some products in the pantry make their way into the house.

We make appointments for the truck before we get home and we also go through all of our permits as well as registration.   In the fall there is always paperwork to be taken care of between the state and us.   We often end up going to Jefferson City to get our proper paperwork completed and to make sure we have everything completed on time.

Bob keeps a list of mechanical or wiring things he wants to do to the truck while we are at home and as soon as the truck is back from the shop he takes care of those issues.   This time he wired in a few more plug-ins for me as well as getting the switch installed for the lane departure warning system.

Our business does not recognize home time and with preventive maintenance we can spend our time on the road making money and not sitting in a shop.   It is much cheaper to us to have the truck in the shop and spend our time at home then to sit in a hotel room waiting on the truck.

We plan fun time as well while at home after the truck has been taken care of or to and from taking the truck to it appointments.   We never forget that our truck is how we make our living and if our truck breaks while on the road our income stops.

We are always glad to get back on the road where our life can become as normal and orderly as a truck drivers life can become.
