Vacation

Having been both to Disney World and Disneyland my preference is still Disneyland. I go to Disneyland to ride the rides not to stroll around and see the sites as I did in Disney World. I like the smallness of Disneyland. If I am not standing in a line I am quickly rushing to get into another line. Lines at Disneyland are entertaining and sometimes the line to get to the actual ride is just as good; Indiana Jones Adventure.

Luckily my best friend from high school and her family who still live in Arizona also enjoy going to Disneyland. Once again we have a four day trip planned starting with a spook filled "All Treats, No Tricks" evening in the Park. There is a special fireworks show for this event and the preview look spooktacular. Did you know that Disney is the largest consumer of Fireworks in the United States?

During our three full days in the two parks, California Adventure Park and Disneyland we will ride all of our favorite rides and many of them at least three times. For those first time friends that go with us to the parks we are not fun to be with. We have destinations and no time to site see. If we go into the park and veer to the right it is to go ride Space Mountain and we will work our way around to the left. Usually we start by going left, first riding Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted House, Splash Mountain, and then the Run Away Railcars.

When we go to California Adventure Debbie likes to ride California Soaring, which makes me sick so once was enough, then we head for California Screaming to be swirled around, go upside down, and do this with our hands held HIGH! Next we are off to Grizzly River Run where we will get soaked, and then we rush over to Toy Story Midway Mania, and finally to Tower of Terror. We will get a fast pass to ride Radiator Springs Racers, as the lines are very long. Sometimes I will do the solo rider for California Screaming so that I do not have to stand in line, I have found I can ride this roller coaster many times before the people who want to ride with friends get to the front of the line. One thing I do not ride is the Mickey's Fun Wheel as it petrifies me...

We are at the front gates waiting before the park opens and we are always one of the last to leave. Last time we went we had family with us, they left before the park closed and sent a message asking if we would like to come back, relax, and play a game. Debbie and I said sure... Famous last words because as we were leaving we saw SHORT RIDE LINES so we had to ride one more ride, then one more ride, yep we were one of the last ones out of the park. They did not wait on us.

This year I have treated myself to something I have always wanted to do, I have bought a ticket for a tour "Walk in Walt's Footsteps". I have read many books on Walt's life and his dream for Disneyland and his long journey to get this built. Several of the rides that I went on as a child are no longer operational but pieces are still visible if you know what to look for. These old rides will be discussed as well as plans for the future.

After waiting so long I cannot wait for my trip to start!
