The stars all aligned and we were able to stop and tour the space center.   My interest in seeing the museum was piqued when I read Space by James Michener and also Rocket Boys by Homer Hickman.   The price was $25.00 dollars each which included a ticket to see a movie.    There was no charge to park.

I wanted to read more about Dr. Wernher von Braun and the German scientists who had the dreams and the knowledge to get us into space.   I called ahead to ask about truck parking and was told to park on the west end of the parking lot where the buses park.   Straight trucks will fit perfectly and a bobtail semi would not be a problem.   While we were there several T/T could have parked and not caused any inconveniences.   I would call ahead if in a T/T to get approval.

We spent most of the day leisurely going through the exhibits, watching a 3D movie about the Reno Air Races, taking a guided tour of the Saturn V hall.     I quickly get tired of reading the little plaques and end up looking at the displays and rapidly going through museums.

With the admission to the museum we were able to take tours and one that interested us was the guided tour of the Saturn V Hall.   The hall is 68,200 sq. ft. and displays a Saturn V rocket.   The Saturn V rocket was launched to the moon from 1968 to 1972 with no pieces being reusable.   We were also able to see the Air Stream that the astronauts were quarantined in with doctors when they first came back from the moon in case they were carrying a germ.   The only aftereffects that I have heard of from space travel is a slight loss to eye sight.

This was a day well spent and if we were to go back we would attend more of the guided tours.   To late we realized there was a Marshall Space Flight Center Tour., oh well next time….
