As a child the TTT was a landmark I enjoyed while passing by on the interstate looking at the trucks in the parking lot.   Once we moved to Sierra Vista the TTT became a landmark that meant we were almost to my grand parents house and the sign was anxiously looked for on our trip.

Now the Triple T has a different meaning as it is a safe place to spend the night, either while waiting to pickup a load or when delivering.    The truck stop was moved to its current location in 1966 and has seen many changes.   The Triple T is one of the many independent’s fighting off the big truck stop chains to stay in business.   Inside there is Omar’s restaurant that has excellent food, a gift shop, a chrome shop, a hair salon as well as showers and a game room.   Outside there is a hotel, fuel islands, truck wash, as well as a repair shop.

The parking lot is not in very good shape as most of the lot is not paved and has some pretty deep ruts.   During the hot summer the dust seems to settle on everything and when we open our doors the dust settles on the inside of the truck.   There is parking for at least a hundred trucks and it is often that we have a hard time finding a place to park.

Over time the city had enveloped the truck stop and it not surrounded by desert as it once was. The Triple T is now engulfed by housing as well as manufacturing and is located close to Davis-Monthan AFB, which is one of the reasons this truck stop is still very popular with truckers.

I still smile when I see the TTT sign as it brings back many fond memories and now plays an important part in our lives as a place to stop for the night.
