This is a class of very bright 4th Graders who have varied interests.   We receive letters from the class once a month via email, which works best for us.   The kids write about anything from their activities in school, hobbies and anything exciting going on in their lives.   They also like to ask us questions and below is a small sampling:

How fast does your truck go?

What do you eat for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner?

Do you like the Cardinals?

One the students has been studying Latin which he finds to be a lot of fun.

What kind of tunnels do we go through?

Where are you right now?

When we see the questions we know they are thinking of trucking and wondering how we accomplish the many things they take for granted.  We through Trucker Buddy have provided them the ability to ask questions about trucking and truck drivers.

Each week I send them a postcard from an area we have been and I also send them a letter on the weekends.   In the letter I reply to the children’s questions and give them an update on where we have been.   I have learned new facts about the places we have been by researching information to send back to the class. We visited the class in the fall and will visit the class again in the spring.

For us it is a win win situation as we learn more about the United States and we get to meet these bright young students.   The students see truck drivers in a different light and have the opportunity to ask questions which kids are best know for!
