Things we miss

We are prepared to get into the new truck and we have run out of truck things we need to complete.  Once we get the Cascadia we are ready to start loading her up. We are now working on fun house projects that we normally do not have much time for.

Bob purchased a few wood saws using Craig’s List and has several projects lined up.  One project was our Corn Hole game that the whole family became involved in.  Bob made the wood frames and we all were involved with painting.  Next came making the bags, then Bob found feed corn and stuffed them.  Now it is all about playing!  Believe it or not here is the official site for Corn Hole as it is a very serious sport.

Bob’s other project has been a washer game that he is still working on.  I have not played washers much and am unclear of the rules.  Now that we will have our own game I am sure I will learn.

We have a huge barn party at our house every year and these games will come in very handy.  Our oldest daughter plans the event and takes care of the details.  We start the day with all sorts of games, we have a gun range and will shoot handguns, rifles, and shotguns, one of our guests is a concealed weapons instructor and he brings all of his instructional supplies to recertify people.  In the evening all of these games are put away and the bonfire is lit.  We have a DJ and a potluck dinner as well as fireworks later on in the evening with lots of dancing. This is not the traditional barn dance as there will be no hay bales set around and very little if any country western music played.

While Bob works on his projects I am free to go horseback riding which has always been a passion of mine.  A neighbor of ours has several horses and they made me a deal if I pay to keep shoes on Jack I can ride whenever I like.  This works out perfect for me, as we cannot care for a horse full time.  I have had times were I paid for shoes and did not get a chance to ride on those shoes but that is all part of it.  Sometimes when we are home we have too much to accomplish and I do not get to ride.  The fun thing about where we live is I am able to jump on our ATV and ride over to our neighbor’s house, ride Jack, then ride the ATV back home.  Two things I really enjoy.

I have also had fun cooking and baking.  The luxury of having more than one pan to cook in is wonderful.  I have been able to plan more elaborate meals and I have had fun experimenting with recipes.  The ultimate luxury is after I am done cooking loading the dishwasher and I am done.

Until we get back on the road we will continue to get caught up on things and have fun.
