Showering and Fuel?

What does fuel and showers have to do with each other? When we purchase 50 gallons of fuel we receive a free shower credit, which can be redeemed within five days.   The shower credit is loaded onto our TA rewards card and that is where the fun begins.   We can often tell a first time truck stop driver looking for a shower as they wander around lost and confused.

The first step if you have a shower credit is to find the rewards kiosk and insert your card; this will bring up simple menu choices.   If we do not have a shower credit showers are purchased at the fuel counter and we will be given a receipt with a number.

The second step will be to find the shower monitor which I would think would be located above the reward card kiosk or even on the kiosk screen telling us what shower number is ours.   This is most often not the case and we start hunting for the shower monitor.   If it is not located near the reward kiosk it is usually near the showers and for some reason in the Petro’s the showers are located through the game room.

Next if many people are showering we wait in line till our number is assigned a shower.   This does not happen often at the TA’s or the Petro’s as they have plenty of showers.   I then usually ask the shower attendant for an extra towel on the way to our shower room.

Once we find our shower door we then have to enter a code, which will unlock the door.    After we go through all of that we able to shut and lock the door and take a nice hot shower.   The showers in the TA are as well as the Petro’s have almost all been renovated and they are very nice with great showerheads and plenty of towels.

The showers are usually equipped with two towels, a washcloth, soap, and a blow dryer.   We use our own personal items and they are included in our shower bags.   Next I need to write a blog on out shower bag and personal items.   My shower bag is double the size of Bob’s. Â
