Saying Good-by to Incognito

The next drivers to get the 2012 Cascadia will be getting an awesome truck.   The truck drives nice, rides nice, and is quiet.   We tackled several mountains while driving the Cascadia and the truck flew up the mountains and the engine brake maintained speed coming back down.   The powerful engine brake in the Cascadia has been such a relief since our last truck did not have an engine brake.

We put 18566 miles on “Incognito” and averaged 11.23 MPG on a brand new DD13 motor.   The truck did not use any oil and is still smells, looks, and acts like a new truck.   I think about the money the truck will make for the owners due to the efficiency of the Cascadia and the fuel mileage.

The DEF cost was .007 cents per mile with the truck getting over 400 miles per gallon of DEF.   Incognito also likes the heat and the hotter it gets outside the better the fuel mileage and the less DEF the truck used.

We never did get used to the hood mounted mirrors and only used them as an afterthought.   It is to in grained in us to lean forward in the seat and use the mirrors to look in the blind spots.   We have missed our camera system and our lane departure warning system (LDWS).   We had not realized or thought about all of the custom features we have added to our truck.

The lift gate was greatly missed on several occasions, as the lift gate would have assisted us unloading freight.   We found that we used our cameras more then we thought as we could easily check the box of the truck to see if we were about loaded or to verify that the freight was riding smoothly.   Being able to check the freight on a sealed load is peace of mind.

The Razor (Electric Dolly Legs) has been missed and luckily we did not get into any docks that were filled with water.   Another item that I really missed was our Norton signal booster as I found I dropped more calls then usual with my I-Phone or did not have signal in many areas.   I also choose not to buy a microwave for this truck and that was a huge mistake.   I carried my cooker, but we quickly realized we used the microwave to warm up meals more often then thought.   We found we ate out more and have not eaten healthy.   This was a bad decision on my part.

Overall the experience of being drivers was positive with a lot learned on our part of how the other side operates.   We have a better understanding of why loads that we take are often turned down by drivers.   We are both thankful for the opportunity that we were given to have this experience.
