Running into BIG boats

We were in Richmond, VA and did not have any tolls to pay to get to Newport News.   We have been lucky enough to visit this area while on vacation and come across on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.   This bridge tunnel is rather expensive for a truck to cross and has lots of regulations so we prefer not to use it for business.

On our way down the interstate it appeared we were going to run into a very large container ship that was at high speed to get out to open water.   Usually when we see ships they are moving very slowly but this one was really going fast.   I almost did not get a picture of the ship right in front of us as I was trying to get the camera.   It is pretty amazing how we at one point are below the water and then we are back on a bridge.   Just as we got to the ship we ducked down into one of the many tunnels in the area.

We have a great friend who lives in this area who just retired from trucking who we enjoying seeing when we will be in the area for a little bit.   We met Jim and his partner Brian right after we leased onto FedEx Custom Critical.   We all moved computers in the middle of the night down in Florida from one building to another.   Through the years we have seen Jim all over the country and have had time to learn about him and from him.   Jim was in the navy and was stationed onboard a aircraft carrier as a mechanic.   His bunk was right below the area that the planes would land and catch the hook for stopping.   Jim can sleep through anything and he proved it.   One night we saw their truck at a truck stop and we stopped by to visit with his partner Brian.   We were in the truck for over an hour visiting and the next Jim was very surprised to see us.   He had not heard anything.

Jim is having fun in his retirement fishing, seeing broad way plays and enjoying himself!

If you ever get a chance this area has a lot to do and see.
