Planning on the road

I do a lot while on the road planning for the holidays.   I purchase gifts, plan meals, and plan activities to do with my girls.   We will have ten days with both of the girls at home over the holidays.   All of the pre planning pays off as we can enjoy our time together instead of at the grocery store or going here or there to pick up items.

We always plan to see a Broadway play over Christmas and this year we will be seeing Cirque Dreams Holidaze.   We live over sixty miles away from theater and this year we have reserved a hotel room to avoid the holiday traffic after the play.   On our way home we have plans to stop and go bowling and maybe play a couple of quick games of Laser Tag.

The girls are also making plans to host a Mystery Dinner at our house.   The play they have picked out involves 8 to 14 people and as of right now we have 14 people planning to attend.   We have to figure out our costume for the event and props for the house.   We are also working on plans for the meal of Lasagna and a festive dessert.

I also have to plan my gifts that need to be sent out early and have them ready to go as soon as I get home.   Normally I mail out Christmas gifts at Thanksgiving and I feel a little more stress this year as I will not have this done.

We are planning theme nights for our meals and I am responsible for Mexican and Chinese nights.   I have started researching meal plans as I cannot make my standard meals.   We are all going to try new recipes this year.   None of us are great cooks, but we all enjoy trying new things.
