Planning for Christmas
Christmas is one of my favorite holidays and I enjoy all of the decorations as well as Christmas cards. When we go home in October or November I pickup my Christmas decorations for the truck as well as my Christmas cards. Every year I am going to get better organized and use a card service and a picture of our truck and I have still not accomplished this.
We only buy a few gifts and only a few of them need to be mailed. If possible I will mail gifts if we are home in November so they reach their destinations in time for Christmas. I have also ordered gifts and had them shipped directly. I do not enjoy shopping or the crowds associated with shopping so I order on line. I have the orders shipped that will coincide with our arrival at home.
When we get home I go into a mad frenzy of wrapping gifts and catching up on Christmas cards. Our daughter lives at our house and she lets me know what Christmas cards we have received and reads them to us. While we are sitting still I write out Christmas cards and drop the in the mail all over the United States.
I enjoy decorating our truck for Christmas, which includes a couple Christmas quilts as well as a few stuffed items. The dash is kept to one of two very small items as we need the defrost to work as well as possible. We usually have a wreath and candy canes for the grill of the truck, but this year we ran out of time and did not get them on the truck.
I will also listen to Christmas music after Thanksgiving while driving. All across the country we get to see amazing displays of lights and the people who leave their lights on all night are really appreciated! Bob is able to see many of the light displays since he is the evening driver and I am only able to see the lights that are left on all night.
We also enjoy the small towns or neighborhoods that take the
time to decorate the light poles and have their welcome signs lit up.
I enjoy oohing and aahing over all of the
work and thought that is put into the various displays.
It is truly a beautiful time of the year.
