Pet Peeve - Laundry

Every weekend week in and week out while away from home I do our laundry and it is NOT my favorite way to spend the weekend.

Often the laundry rooms are very busy with several drivers waiting their turn to use the machines.   As soon a machine come available it is loaded up again, money put in or a card swiped and the machine is running again.

Most of the machines we see have timers on the dials saying how long before they are finished.   I find it very easy to enter that time into my phone as an alarm that will let me know when I need to go back to the laundry room to move my clothes.   Some laundry rooms have a code that can be entered in your phone and you will get a text when the washer or dryer is finished.    Sound pretty easy?

Well there are some that cannot figure out how to use alarms and they wander off and forget that they are washing their clothes.   Now his or her machine gets done and there is NO ONE is site.   I have learned to move someone else’s clothes to the dryer or to pile them up on the folding table and I hate doing this.   I should not have to move another person’s clothes because they are inattentive.

Dryers are another tricky thing in laundry rooms and some of them cook our clothes and some of them tumble our clothes in a cool breeze.   For some reason many men and yes I have very seldom seen a women do this believe that if they paid for 65 minutes of dryer time they are going to use it all.   Most women feel their clothes and when they are dry they take them out instead of cooking them.

On a good note I am glad the TA and Petro's have added a card reader so we no longer have to count our quarters.   At $2.25 up to $3.00 a load it was really becoming a pain to carry around enough quarters to do laundry.

In the past several years I have made my own laundry soap and I only need to use a quarter cup of soap.   No more lugging around big boxes of laundry detergent.   Right now I am trying laundry soap from Norwex that does not have any fillers in it and also only uses a quarter cup of soap.

If you are using the laundry room at least set a reminder so that you will not be one of "those people" who hold others up or let them move your clothes.
