Our Class 7 Truck

Our truck has the flat dash not the rounded dash a class 8 truck has.   The floors in our M2 Freightliner are sloped which we found out makes it very difficult to replace the existing seats with seats that are built for long hours of driving.    The curved dash of the Class 8 is very convenient to easily reach all of the controls and also to scan the gauges.   Everything is set up in the Class 8 for the drivers comfort and ability to see and reach all necessary items while going down the road.   The area the Qualcomm has to be    mounted in our truck blocks the heater/air-conditioning controls and the radio controls.   Bob mounted the Qualcomm on a swivel which makes it easy to move out of the way.   We have a new version of the Qualcomm and we are able to turn down the sound.  This is a mixed blessing as we turn down the sound of the annoying beep that you have a message waiting.      Not hearing that beep can cost you a load. The cup holders are also inconveniently placed and would work a lot better if they were closer to you. I think a small subtle light near the cup holders would be an awesome addition when driving at night.   I have missed the cup holder and dropped my full cup of coffee on the floor.   Now dropping a full cup of coffee gets the adrenalin going much faster than drinking the actual coffee will.

There are many nice things about the Class 7 M2 which will be very similar to the Class 8 Cascadia.   There is plenty of room to walk between the seats and get back to the sleeper.   The windshield is huge and very easy to see all of my surroundings.   Our Class 7 M2 has a sloped hood and the Class 8 Cascadia will also have a sloped hood.   It is very easy to maneuver the truck in tight places as we do not have to look over a hood that goes on and on like it does on some of the trucks.   Another nice feature I use a lot on this truck and will on the next truck is the automatic mirrors.   I am short and drive with someone that is tall so the mirrors are always out of whack!   It is so easy to adjust my seat then adjust the mirrors to maximize my ability to see behind me.

We are looking forward to getting out of the Class 7 M2 Freightliner and getting into our new Class 8 Cascadia as soon as the specs are in order and the truck is ordered.
