MoDOT

The rules are different in Missouri than in Kansas and we have had to learn new schedules of when our taxes are due.   I used to work at a courthouse in data processing and did not have to deal with the public too much.   I dealt more with the various offices as well as the police/sheriffs department.

The over all feeling inside the courthouse as well as with the state offices was not always a congenial atmosphere.   Often it was a case of learn the rules and regulations the hard way and if we were to call the state at the wrong time and the wrong office we got nowhere.

When we bought our first truck in Missouri we didn’t have a clue how to proceed.   We called the MoDOT offices and where instructed on what we needed to bring to get our registration as well as our tag.   Through the years we have been late on a few things as we were not home to either get the letter or we did not submit a paper on time.   Through each of these problems the state employees have helped us work through our online registration as well as help us get through the next step.

Today when registering our truck was no different, I had all of our stuff with me when we arrived except…   We did not have the paperwork with our DOT number, but the girl saw I had our old registration and she pulled up our file using those numbers.   Next we were off to pay for the tag and this girl was just as friendly.   We changed the account over to our corporation name and this involved changing everything.

I am glad to say one thing we do not dread is when we have to deal with the state on issues with our truck, as they are always pleasant and helpful.   What a relief this is when dealing with the plethora of paperwork a state can generate.   Hopefully our truck is just about done and we will be out hauling freight soon.
