We knew the damage was severe to the rear and passenger side of the box but still were not prepared for the estimate.   The initial estimate is $27,495, which does include replacing the twisted lift gate.

So far we are thrilled with out insurance, CIS Progressive as they have been responsive to our needs and proactive on going after the driver of the other vehicle.   At this point we are still assuming they did not have insurance and we will have to pay our deductible.   We gambled and did not get coverage for down time and this will probably change in the future.     The down time payments would relieve some of our stress and the burden of getting into our savings. This is a grim reminder of why we have an emergency fund.

We are looking at the possibility of running for an owner for a month if the logistics work out, if not we will stay at home and get some projects finished.   The problem we have right now is we were just home for two weeks and are caught up on our to do lists.   We also have found over the years that we get itchy feet when home to long and we want to go somewhere…   Vacation was not in the plans for this year as we still have a couple of truck shows we will be attending.

We are now on our way to Green, OH for continuing education to keep our HazMat designation up to date.    We haul a lot of HazMat and while now we will be staying in hotels instead of the truck this is something we have to do.   We have found that we prefer to travel in the comfort of the Cascadia and our Bolt Custom Sleeper then in our personal vehicle.   We have become accustom to having our own bed and refrigerator in easy reach.

Funny how is a few seconds how quickly our lives can change.   We are lucky ours will be a quick fix and the box, lift gate and tool boxes will be like new and we will be back to doing a job we enjoy and look forward to.
