Winter fuel has taken a toll on our fuel mileage and our last DDEC report reflects this.   This report is from 10/31/11 to 12/21/11 with an average fuel mileage of 11.73 and DEF usage of 549 mpg.    This report was figured on 22,996 miles driven with 3.68% idle time. Our average speed for this period was 53.6 mph.

The lifetime average statistics taken off of the DDEC is for 93,343 miles with 5.15% idle time on the motor.   Our overall fuel economy is 11.74 MPG with an average speed of 49.9 mph.

We use bulk tanks to buy our DEF and are still paying around 2.59 a gallon which keeps our DEFS costs minuscule.   With a full DEF tank we have approximately 12,267 miles before we need to fill again and in that time it is easy to find a truck stop that carries DEF in bulk.

All of our regens have occurred while the truck is moving and do not seem to affect the trucks performance.

Our average load in 2011 with the Cascadia has been 1500lbs, which is not taxing our DD13 motor and is why at 370hp we have more than enough power.   The three-stage engine brake holds the truck right where it needs to be to handle the downhill grades we have encountered.

Driving the Cascadia is still something we look forward to and after 93,000 miles still feels like driving a new truck.   There are no squeaks, rattles, odd noises, and shutting the doors is still tough as they are tight.   The truck drives and looks as if it is brand new and we are looking forward to 2012 and seeing how much further we can push our fuel mileage and the performance of this truck.
