We were on our way to Utah for a pickup and were able to stop in Las Vegas for two days.   Our daughter asked if we wanted to join her for the Las Vegas Great Santa run 5K and of course we said YES!

We registered on line with Opportunity Village which is a large organization aiding in the education of the mentally challenged to find jobs.    The run usually draws in about 10,000 participants and each year the goal is to have more than 12,000 Santa’s to beat the world record.

The 5K course took us all over the Sunset Bridge, which crossed I-15 and gave us a great view of downtown Las Vegas.   This was the largest walk we have participated in and to say we were amazed would be an understatement.   There were children dressed up like Santa’s, there were dogs dressed up, and the people dressed, as Santa’s were everywhere!   Everyone seemed happy and cheerful which made for a very fun event.

We both hope that we will be able to participate in this event again next year.  We have not heard if the record was broken this year or not.
