Hurry up and wait

We do not often have to wait and to get loaded or unloaded. When this situation occurs, it can test my patience.   I have found that if I stay busy while waiting the time actually flies as long as we do not have the stress of losing a load we were pre assigned.   We were waiting to pick up this load, the only thing going against me was my 14-hour clock, and if I did not get driving soon it would be time for Bob to drive.

While waiting to get loaded we are limited on what we can do or where we can go.   On this load, we were waiting for an escort.   That meant we needed to stay in the truck so we would be ready to roll as soon as our escort arrived.   When stopped for more then a few minute I get my computer out and work on the various projects I have.   I also am working on finishing a blanket I am crocheting for my mother-in-law for Christmas so I have plenty to do.   Bob went back to sleep.

When the escort arrived, he informed me that he would be taking three trucks back to the secure areas.   We all had to travel together and than wait for each on of us to get loaded so we could then be escorted off the base.   By the time all was said and done, it was 12:30 in the afternoon.

One of my secrets to keep me from getting too frustrated is to stay busy and not ponder on the frustration of sitting their waiting and assuming I am being ignored.   All worked out well and we made our delivery on time and were able to pickup our next load with enough time to spare to in a shower.

I am constantly working to turn situations that frustrate me into positive situations.
