It's a Team's Life

Getting back in the swing

It does not take long to settle back to life at the house and normal hours.   I still get up much earlier than Bob, but not nearly as early as I do while on the road.

We started out with a couple easy runs, which we really appreciated and then ended up, pre-assigned on a load for a Monday pickup.   We were able to learn a little about the truck as well as the sleeper.

As we drove down the road we thought of things we forgot or wished we had brought.   So far we have found we did pretty good in this area.   I have rearranged the cabinets a few times after adding more baskets.

I am getting used to grabbing my stepstool when I need something in the cabinets and this is becoming easier to remember.   Bob has dug around in the cabinets some and is slowly learning his way around the sleeper.

We started the next week off with a bang and were able to get a longer run and stretch the Caffcadias tires out.   As I was driving north out of Denver I was buffeted strongly by a side wind and the truck performed really well.   Just north of Denver I came upon an over turned mobile home that had just happened.   The driver was fine but someone’s new mobile home was laying upside down in the ditch while the other half was just fine parked by an over pass.

When I reached I-80 and turned west the wind was hitting me catty corner and my fuel mileage showed this.   I enjoy the instant readout on the dash as I can adjust my speed as needed to obtain optimal fuel mileage.   The truck was able to pull out a 10.05 even in these adverse conditions.

One of the new things that I like about the truck is that when a message is coming in on the QUALCOMM it reads across the dash readout.   This is great as we can keep the sound down and not disturb the person sleeping and know we have a message that might require a response.

We quickly fell back into our truck sleeping patterns and we have found that the Cascadia rides awesome and we are able to fall asleep easily.
