We were not sure what to expect and only knew we were to show up with our truck to this event and we wanted to look our best.  We have been running pretty hard and the truck was due for a wash and a good cleaning.   We had the truck washed at a Blue Beacon and were ready for the next step.

We arrived at the FedEx Ground terminal in the morning, as we knew once Bob had the tires lettered he would want to be able to position the tires perfectly.   Bob worked on the outside of the truck and I cleaned and polished the inside.   As an added touch I purchased white fresh cut daisies for the table and made cookies as I was cleaning.   The table looking very nice and I am thinking next time I will either set the table or I will lay out cards as if we were playing a game…   Not sure which way I will go cards sounds like more fun.

We were asked to position the truck at the front of the line which was great as people came to the festivities the first thing they saw was our truck.   We opened the doors of the truck as well as the doors to our dry box.   We had many people look inside the box of the truck and ask questions about our freight handling equipment.   I think all of them enjoyed seeing a different division of FedEx.

The terminal manager treated us as if were part of this terminal and we were included in the group pictures.   All of the employees were very pleasant and welcomed us and many took a tour of the truck and sleeper.   We really enjoyed talking about what we do, how we got into driving and what we did before we became truck drivers.

The truck amazed the men and many once they sat in the drivers seat did not want to get out.   They liked the looks of the dash, the comfort of the Cascadia seats as well as the visibility looking out the windshield and the side windows.   The women could not say enough things about the sleeper, they liked the roominess, the wood floor, the refrigerator, and the sink and counter top.   I think many of them could visualize themselves “roughing it” on the road.

We had a great day showing our truck and hope we will be able to do this again in the future.   As we were leaving people were waving and yelling out good byes and we will not forget them or their hospitality.
