Free Mammograms

Since 2008 we have had conference calls weekly and over time we have gained members and we have lost members but one thing stays the same we are here for each other. Each member has been through some ups and downs and the group is always there to give a helping hand and like all families we have also had our squabbles. We though have stood the test of time and the commitment each of us has put into keeping our group going and staying interesting.

Over the years we have guest speakers from all areas of trucking and some that were not even involved with trucking but are trying to break in as a vendor. We have had health professionals talking to the group as well as other drivers who are doing something we all found interesting with their business. Guest speakers seem to enjoy our calls as we are a ready made focus group for many things from bouncing ideas off of us to seeing if advertising is working.

In 2010 we formed the Trucking Solutions Group Driver Health Council and through that group we started putting on health walks, then blood drives, and last year added a bone marrow donor booth. After GATS last year though our involvement at this truck show increased significantly.

We have tried for over a year to get a mobile mammogram unit to a truck show and we have finally succeeded. Rick Ash, Chairman of The Trucking Solutions Group has worked diligently and sometimes really against the odds to make this happen. Baylor Health will be providing their Mobile Mammogram Unit at the 2015 Great American Truck Show (GATS).

Due to the help of many drivers and businesses The Trucking Solutions Group will be able to pay for 55 mammograms for anyone needing a mammogram that does not have insurance. The Unit will be open one hour before the show so that vendors can get a mammogram if they want. We are still accepting donations and as more money comes in we will be able to provide more mammograms for free. If we get to a point where we have money left over it will be given to Saint Christopher's Fund to help other drivers in need. Another project that has been going on for most of the year is working on the Health Pavilion that is now been sponsored by Landstar and is called the Landstar Fit for the Road Health and Wellness Pavilion. The Trucking Solutions Group has worked diligently with GATS show management and Rick has used his knowledge of health fairs to bring quite an array of free health screenings that will also be available to anyone that comes through the Landstar Health Pavilion.
