It's a Team's Life
Final Update on MATS 2012
This was the third year for the MATS Health Awareness Walk
and the Trucking Solutions Group was very pleased with the turnout.
On Friday morning of the walk Bob and I were
woken to the sound of the torrential rain on the roof of the truck.
Not a good sound considering the walk is held
outside.
The rain let up for the walk
and then started again about the time the Blood Drive was to start.
Some of the non drivers included engineers
from Freightliner, staff members from OOIDA including Todd Spencer and Joe
Rajkovacz, Bjorn Cannon with Real Wheels, engineers from Detroit AG, Pam
Pollock from Movin Out, and then also several drivers.
The feed back we received from the industry
leaders as well as drivers was very positive.
This was the second year for the Trucking Solutions Group to sponsor the American Red Cross Blood Mobile. The first day of the blood drive we were amazed how many drivers ventured out in the pouring down rain to give blood. We ended up getting 36 pints for the two day event and this was a little short of our goal. We are all ready working on ideas for next year to get the number higher.
The Women in Trucking, Salute to Women Drivers was once
again an emotional event.
There were
many men and women in attendance with I believe 205 women CDL holders in red
t-shirts for the annual picture. As a board member I was able to shake the
hands of the women who have obtained a million safe miles and higher.
What a thrill to shake these women’s hands
and there were many tears shed by drivers when the over four million miles
winners came up to the stage.
